During the war Kimura worked as photographic editor of magazine 'Front', published by Toho-sha (Far East Co.), which quickly renamed itself 'Company of Culture (Bunka-sha)' after the surrender. The present was their second publication. It is likely that the subtitle 'Fall of 1945' is an intended pun - the Japanese title simply says 'Autumn 1945'. The 'Forword'
